There's an imPort here, Kitty Jones. Personally, I loathe her, but she did make an interesting point one time: as a populace, we're all bizarrely attractive. I'd extend the hypothesis to bizarrely young as well. If the Porter were truly random, there would be more children and elderly than there are here.

On the contrary, not that much! Toby's older than me, after all, and the last person I was seriously involved with was in his fourties.

Men AND women. Though, given the choice, I prefer men to women.

I don't really know—just a personal preference. Aesthetics matter the most to me and I tend to find young men more attractive than young women!

Perhaps because in a way, they are your image reflected. And you are a beautifully attractive young man. I imagine it's difficult to find people who match up to your particular standards.

Well, it depends. I've got significantly less standards for one-night-stands than solid relationships.

Have you actually had more solid relationships in the past? Prior to Tobias? I imagined all of your encounters to be based upon the heat of the moment and lust.

I was actually almost married once! Her name was Alyssa, I was with her in the 1960s and 1970s. Aside from her, there was Simon: our relationship was short, but VERY solid.

Though to be honest, I've had more solid friendships than solid relationships.

Well, I would imagine you meet a great many interesting individuals throughout your life. And especially within this world. But as for your lovers, were they both immortal as well?

Toby, yes. Alyssa and Simon, no.

Is that what ultimately ended those relationships? Or were there other reasons?

Simon and I never really got STARTED. And ironically, my getting cold feet ended things between Alyssa and me.
