Fanport's coming up, as you know.

I'd like for us to all do a panel together.

A fine idea, my friend. I've committed to a running a few of my own. But I would never pass up the opportunity for us to speak together.

[ As the two strongest imPort politicians....is what Petyr is implying here. ]

I agree. I've invited the other Ambassadors, but...

I'd also like to do one with the two of us on our own.

Other ambassador, you mean. Singular.

[ Petyr Baelish, asshole extraordinaire, sounds a bit smugly pleased by this. Lucy had proven herself to be a hindrance to his goals. So, the porter did for him what he could not do himself -- got her out of the way. ]

But I could certainly make myself available for both. What did you have in mind?

I...may reach out to Lucy's surrogate, for politeness.

[ A pause. ] The one with all of us will be a Q&A, as well as a primer on government for those of us who aren't really used to that.

For us... perhaps something a little more...targeted. Something to further our mutual interests.

[ It was a cautionary warning from a friend to a friend. ]

Jon Snow would sooner utilize any chance to talk as a chance to discredit me and perhaps you as well should he realize we are good friends. He is a fool, naive to this world's politics, and yet a fool who inspires people to follow him blindly. We cannot give him a platform that may allow others to vote for him should he decide to run as De Chima's ambassador. It would only prove to be problematic. So much so, that I've been thinking of convincing Sam Merlotte to go for the position, even though I had planned on grooming him for Maurtia Falls.

Perhaps you could invite him to speak? As someone who once ran for ambassador and someone who lives in De Chima currently. He has enough knowledge to be able to speak on the matter -- more so than Snow.

And I agree, Sam would be preferred.

[ There's a pause. ]

But I also don't wish to play favorites, either. I don't think that bringing Sam into something like this when we have a temporary, acting Ambassador would do us any favors, as clear leaders in the Political community.

[ There's a pause. ]

Perhaps we could instead have a second panel. Perspectives form all levels -- the Ambassador, the Senator, and... the candidate.

As clear of an endorsement as I can swing.

[A beat.] I'm honestly not worried about him trying to change or manipulate my associations. After all, my Deputy Mayor was once a supervillain -- back when I ran a city.

And who gave Lord Snow the authority to act as a temporary Ambassador, pray tell? From my understanding, if a port out happens, then the position should be vacant. No one voted him into office. The city will continue to run without an ambassador -- especially since De Chima has an imPort Senator. So him filling in is completely unnecessary.

[ He mulls over Mitch's words and has to give them credit. Mitch is a true politician who knows the way this democracy operates. It certainly isn't Westeros where they could be blatant in their favoritism. ]

I do agree that having Sam there may wind up looking unfavorable, but Jon Snow also has no place there either. And having him speak may come across as an unintentional endorsement as well as condoning his unjustified behavior. He fucked the ambassador. That does not make him one.

[ The proposed idea of the panel does get an approving hum from him. ]

The idea for your second panel could work. I have to wonder if there might be a more subtle way to do it -- some issue that ties the three of us together that could be utilized to show Sam's competence and put the idea into the minds of those who attend that he might be a good pick? Perhaps something related to imPort business since you and I championed for tax cuts on imPort businesses, and he is an owner of one of those businesses.

It also looks like a purposeful snub when we both endorse Sam.

[ He pointed out. ]

In our politics here, someone close to the politician normally fills in until there is a new replacement voted in. It's not...ideal, but it allows for people to have a semblance of consistency. And while I don't...necessarily have any fondness toward Mr. Snow...

[ A pause. ] I also don't want him to come out and say that we were unreasonable and unwilling to work with him, when he runs, and Sam is his opponent. Then there's cries for nepotism, and even if heand if he tries to talk shit about you later, you were the one entirely willing to work with him.

I am not willing to work with him. I extended that invitation from the beginning. I tried to work with him. And he snubbed my invitation, turned Lucy against me, murdered my birds, and uses every opportunity he can to discredit me. This panel would be no different.

So respectfully, if you still wish to extend the invitation and have him take part, I will have to decline participating on my end. And it isn't out of stubbornness or an inability to see the truth of your words. It's simply that I have exhausted all efforts to try and work with Jon Snow already. I can recognize a hopeless cause and would much rather focus on making FanPort as productive as I can.

[ A pause. ]

He murdered your birds?

[ A long, long pause. ] What the fuck?

He's aware that I can communicate with them as most people are. And I imagine he and Lucy thought I was utilizing them to spy.

[ Which....he was. ]

Any mockingbird that found itself unfortunate to be near either home in De Chima has wound up dead. And most insulting of all was the fact that I gifted one to Lucy as a means of protection, and she killed that gift in return -- even after it helped me to save her from a kidnapping at one point in time.

Casualties happen. But my birds were deliberately hunted down and killed when they simply could have been scared off from the areas, and I find such a thing intolerable.

[ His voice escalated: ]

Lucy just killed a fucking bird?

What the fuck?

She was a rather adept hunter. You'd be surprised.

I'll -- I think with that, it becomes even more vital to make sure we find the right candidate to support in De Chima. I mean, I know I'm not an animal person, but... that kind of treatment is cruel and unusual.

I do agree on all accounts. It's my belief that De Chima needs something fresh. New. Modern. Someone who could be innovative and excel with the technological aspects the way you had when you served as ambassador. Even Sam Merlotte and his countryside ways aren't ideal, but they are better than the alternative of Jon Snow.

I agree.

[ A sigh. ]

I wish we had an idea of who's running. But we need to do something fresh, lest we have... someone like this Snow guy in charge of my city.

[ Oops. ]

I would say 'who would want such a position,' but I fear it has turned into something almost celebrity in nature. More people seem to run than are willing to vote. Do you recall how you once told me you ran uncontested?

It's... It's not a good thing. I don't know what it says about the state of politics in this world, that people are treating it like that. It... it kind of breaks my damn heart.

People want power. They see being an ambassador as a way to obtain it. Little do they realize it's more battles and fighting to actually accomplish anything worthwhile than it is true power. Though I am curious -- when I spoke to Count Dooku about my mayoral ambitions, he considered it a downgrade from ambassador. Do you believe that as well?

[ Mitch is the one who could really tell it like it is in the political game, the one who would be able to set it straight which one housed more influence than the other. ]

[ He snorted. ] No, he's just an idiot.

[ He said it plainly. ] Being mayor is something of a downgrade, at least in the immediacy. But when you have ambitions greater than just "ambassador", you need someplace to go. ?You can't do that without having held an office more than just what we have.

Besides, I went from Mayor to Vice President back home. I'd say it's a pretty good jumping point.

It seems like it. Not to mention, it is mayor of a porter city which is a bit more interesting than one of a regular city. I imagine the representatives of Pennsylvania will take notice. And perhaps you can get closer to the senators from my state to see where they stand?

But regardless, I can gift you Merlotte to run for De Chima's ambassador. I'll convince him that it's a good idea and hopefully he will put his name in when the time comes. And I hope that you would be able to help me find someone suitable to replace me in Maurtia Falls when I decide to step down. It will be a bit interesting to see how our influence can influence the vote.

I agree.

We'll see who will work best. Maurtia Falls takes to having someone who's... sympathetic to the needs of the city. If we can find someone who's like minded, I think we'll be able to go a long way to influencing the city in the right direction if we can find someone who...understands it.

[ He's under no reservations that Baelish is likely someone who has done some crappy things. Then again, he has too. ]

Particularly given the sort of imPorts who are drawn to the city. It can be a challenge to represent them at times. But I digress, I've droned on long enough. We can touch on these matters at another time. For now, I will see what I can do to make an appearance at your panel and try to think of one you and I can do together -- if not for this year, then certainly for the next.

[ Because Baelish believes both he and Mitch are going to be here a year from now. ]
