[ kaneki does spend time in Maurtia falls since he is part of the AEGIS team, after all. So the trip to Baelish's office doesn't take him long, and once he is there, he will wait to be taken to the Mayor

When he is, Kaneki will greet the man with a warm smile ] Mayoir Baelish.

[ Baelish stands to greet Kaneki with a small bow. One thing he appreciates about Japanese culture is that it does mimic the formalities he's used to a bit. ]

Kaneki, a pleasure to see you. How have you been? You were not hurt during your mission, were you?

[ He gestures toward the seat where he has a cup of expensive coffee awaiting. ]

[ Kaneki bows his head gently as well, before he takes a seat ] Thank you.

I was mostly fine during the mission. Things went quite well, all things considered. We are just waiting to hear government word before releasing our findings. [ however, kaneki has shared them by now, and written a lot down on his notes ]

Thank you for meeting me in such short notice. My request is actually a bit unorthodox, but I hope it'll make sense once you hear it.

[ Baelish circles around to his chair, reclining in it as he folds his fingers in front of himself. ]

And do not fret. I am Mayor of Maurtia Falls. Unorthodox requests are part of the norm here. What can I help you with, my friend?

[ naturally. Kaneki will take the cup of coffee, but he speaks before taking a sip ]

I'm not sure how familiar you are with imPort history before we came here, but ten years ago, a group of teenage imPort were permanently killed in a place commonly called "Death Island". As it's the tenth anniversary of their passing, and because I don't think it's something that should be forgotten, I wish to build a memorial for them at the island, or at least visit the place for us to pay our respects.

[ finally he takes a sip, leaning back on the chair ] The island is, however, under the jurisdiction of New Zealand. They are not US enemies, but naturally this involves going into another country's territory and build something there. There is bureaucracy, and of course, the government must approve all of this in order to contact New Zealand's government.

[ which means Kaneki needs voices within the imPort community to support this and get the government to listen ]

[ Baelish is silent, listening to Kaneki's speech thoughtfully. He had been vaguely aware of the history, at least in terms of this being a spot imPorts before them had died -- although admittedly not to the extent where he would consider ever paying a visit to a place commonly known as Death Island. Of course, that isn't what's being asked of him. ]

I do not see any harm in making the request. It may be pushing it a bit to build the memorial on foreign land, but the worst they could do is say no. I would support your inquiry, although I am not certain how far my support would go. I do not have the same reach as the ambassadors.

[ Yet. In another year or two, he will be attempting for a higher office. ]

[ kaneki nods ] Ambassador Baal mentioned perhaps a temporary museum of sorts. I honestly don't have much hope on building the memorial, but at least think it's important to pay respects at the place.

[ Baal did have a good idea with this, and Kaneki truly appreciated his support, he was quick to say yes and give ideas. Sadly Galla was ported-out, Kaneki is certain she'd give her stamp of approval too - and even go along ]

In any case, when presenting this to the government, I'm certain your support will be a big plus, Lord Baelish. I appreciate it.

Of course. Anything I can do to help, Kaneki. Have you approached Deputy Ambassador Maximoff on the matter? Ambassador Delos may have his hands full with setting up the Swear In and settling into office, but this could be a project our Deputy Ambassador could handle.

[ Which has the bonus of letting Petyr get to know him separate from Logan if they are working on a project together. ]

I am certain he would be eager to have a voice in matters.

[ a pause ] I... am sorry, I have nothing against the person.

But he wasn't elected. His dog was. I can't imagine wanting to bring up such a serious discussion to the government and bring along a document saying "the dog approves as well". [ it's insulting. Kaneki fully understands imports don't take themselves or anything related to them seriously. He fully knows the whole dog thing was but a joke.

But it's a joke he isn't going to bring to a serious discussion. it'd only show how idiotic imPorts are. And how they don't take anything serious.

Hell, if imPort's enemies ever wanted toi point out how imports take this world as a joke, all they have to do is bring up the fact imPorts elected a dog as their representative. Not even an imPort dog, who can communicate- it's a normal dog. ]

[ Baelish smiles his sly little smile, shrugging his shoulders. ]

Peter Maximoff could have denied ambassadorship when approached. He did not. I am of the belief the dog was a strategy for him to get elected, a front because he lacked in the confidence to run himself. And since he has taken office, he is taking things seriously.

[ He was probably giving Peter too much credit, looking at it the way things were played in Westeros. But in a world of democracy, it is a wise strategy to count on people's love for animals whenever possible. ]

And should Logan port out or step down, Deputy Ambassador Maximoff will be the next one to take his place. So it may be a wise idea to see what he is like now before this happens.

[ lacked confidence. Sure he did. ~~As if Kaneki believed that~~. Or he just knew imports are often a bunch that don't really care about anything and take nothing serious.

He isn't going to say anything else about that, since clearly Baelish seems to support him. But Kaneki is not going to bring him on this. Even if he "lacked confidence". ]

We will see what the future brings on that end.
