I do agree. Maurtia Falls will remain free under my guidance, but have the appearance of being cleaned up. I intend to bring a lot of the criminal elements into my fold. Especially the corrupt police force. As my dearest friend, you would greatly benefit.
Nothing that would be very effective, no. We can sign all the contracts in the world, but they are hardly binding. And any magical oath would be within your power, there is no saying you could not go back on your word while I was bound by my own. So all I suppose I can ask for is an act of good will. A favor. One to be procured at my leisure. One without price. Anything within your power that will not bring harm or risk exposure of your person.
[ Something against someone, more than likely. Like the devil. Or someone else. Baelish doesn't have particulars in mind, but he's sure there will come a day when he does need this sort of favor from the strongest magic user in this world. And he wishes to pass that price of magic onto someone else. Surely that would be within Peter Pan's power. ]
It is not too late to accept my job proposal. After all, if I do get elected ambassador, I may need someone I trust to help run things. Preferably an imPort.
[ HINT. HINT. ]
But apart from that, we share many opinions and goals not only for Maurtia Falls, but also about most of the imPorts in general. You do not have to prove the potential I see in you for me to enjoy your company and our conversations.
I know I'll be useless running things. But I think I might be able to help out at the bar. [ he's okay with that hint hint, Dorian gets it (and also is gonna be fired from his current job any day now.....). ]
Well, I do hope that someday you and I will get to work together in such a capacity.
[ Little did Baelish know, it would be sooner than either of them thought. ]
At any rate, do let me know more about your proposed international committee once you gather all the interested parties. I look forward to working with you in the future.
A congratulations is in order, Ambassador Baelish. I take pride in picking winners. [Though Baelish is his only winner to speak of.] I thought your discourse on the mental health system of Maurtia Falls was rather invigorating. Inspiring, even.
Of course, Ambassador. [Hierarchy was to be respected.] As you are well aware, the city of Maurtia Falls suffers frequent bouts of criminal activity -- the current prison system is incarceration without real medication. Remarkable how often inmates suffer from untreated mental illness -- anything from depression to schizophrenia, and naturally the personality disorders. The social effects are as devastating as they are repetitious. A truly sufficient psychiatric system aligned with current institutions would impact the modern rate of recidivism greatly.
[A beat.]
If composed and managed by the right psychiatric authority.
Yes, naturally. And given your credentials, publications, and best selling novel -- you would be the ideal man to head this project. Yours is a face of stability, a face the public can trust, and the only one I would entrust in this scenario.
So what does your proposed psychiatric system entail?
[Send out enough gift baskets and win an election, of course he's bound to get one in return. March calls for it as soon as the votes are in, elated. He'll find himself gifted a box chock full of every accessory needed to open and deal with wine bottles (makes the congratulation parties to come easier!) with two bottles of fine wine, several cheeses, and a gift card to a higher end store specializing in perfumes and colognes. It's Fancy and, to his thinking, Deserved. He has no sigil as such, but the note is obviously his and obviously handwritten by James March himself (still smells a bit like smoke and everything).]
My Dear Lord Baelish, Sincerest congratulations on your victory this evening! I can think no one more deserving such power and responsibility. I greatly look forward to what you will do with your new position. Should you have any need of I or the Castile herself, we would be both humbled and honored to see to anything and everything you may require. Just say the word and you shall have it.
