I have been under their conditions for two years, Lord Baelish. I have been out under probation out of good will. I have been kidnapped and brainswashed by this country's enemies and I have even worked for this government as a Police officer. I've shown them my goodwill for far too long.
If they give imPorts the option to register, it should be to all imPorts, not just the ones they are unable blackmail into it. [ because damn right it is blackmail. ButKaneki pauses for a second. He can't sound TOO bitter of the government when speaking to an Ambassador, now can he? ]
... Lord Baelish, please understand that this, too, is goodwill. I am not registered. [ he is getting food from SOMEWHERE. And while he will never directly admit to be doing something illegal, it's implied ] In fact, none of the people-eaters that I have met are. What does the government think it's happening? [ it's true that Kaneki doesn't kill, but let's be real for a moment: if someone is born eating people, murder is a damn good option. And they are very good at not being caught too ]
I'm not starving and I could ignore this matter. [ he too knows how not to be caught ] But here I am, exposing myself again, asking the government to reconsider because I want everyone happy and to respect each other. Us, the government and the natives. [ who might be turned into food if nobody does anything about it. Like they probably already are. ] This IS goodwill.
I am not the one you need to convince of these things. I'm already on your side. But I'm also being realistic with you that this is the view the government officials are likely to take if we press this issue beyond your own predicament at this current moment. To see change takes time and understanding from both parties. We must first work with them to change things for you before we can advocate a change on a grander scale. And you must also show them helping you is not a decision they will regret.
But should all of this not work out in your favor, I can at least promise you that Maurtia Falls will be a city you can feel secure within. I will not stand by and allow them to imprison you when you tried to go about this the right way.
The reason I'm doing this isn't because I need it. It's because this government and the native population need it, either they see it or not. [ he'll force his peaceful ways on them |8 ] I'm not worried about a negative answer from the government, they should be the ones worried because of what the refusal implies. [ it implies imPorts continuing to do illegal things in other to survive, including murder. It also implies that the government really likes controlling whenever they can control someone. It also implies that whatever they do to Cannibals & Co. they can easily start doing to every imPort (imagine what's like if they forbid everyone from getting food unless they register).
So far, not many know of this situation and it'd probably be for the best if the government changed this situation before anyone notices. ]
I can show them they don't have to regret it, but I have never given them a reason to regret ever helping when I was registered. If they argue against it, I doubt it'll be about what I do, and rather it'll be about what I am. [ and he can't really help what he is. ]
- And Lord Baelish. I already am there. [ y e p. Those are Kaneki's hunting ground ]
Well, that does save you having to find a place to stay in the city at the least.
[ He replies with amusement. ]
But like I said, I will do what I can to aid you in this. Perhaps the government may very well surprise us in how they will be willing to aid all imPorts with situations similar to yours by not denying them their necessities regardless of registration status.
[ Petyr highly doubts it, though. And his challenge is going to be finding a way to approach this without coming across like he's biting the hand that feeds them. It's just a good thing he does enjoy challenges. ]
I shall speak to Mitchell Hundred for you, and I will let you know what he says in regards to all of this. In the meantime, if there is anything else you need while within Maurtia Falls or from me personally, do not hesitate to ask, Kaneki.
The imProcreats were these computer generated creatures given to each of the imPorts. And the imPorts were able to use them against one another in 'battles.' It was something of a little tournament, and the winners were allowed to take home their imProcreat. This becomes relevant a few months later when we were attacked at Philadelphia by these giant monstrosities bearing horrid resemblances to the imProcreat technology.
I've been looking into matters since then. What I've uncovered is not much, but one government official did shed light that the imProcreats were created to be used in conjuction with the government in order to get a handle on powers independent of imPorts. She refused to tell me anything further, and that is where you would come in.
I wish for you to look into imProcreat records and find out anything and everything you can -- especially things that may have been deleted, names that can be investigated, and any signs of who may have taken their technology in order to create those monsters that attacked in July. Any connections to the government you would be able to find would be helpful as well, but I would not ask you to dig into areas where you could potentially be caught, of course.
[ Petyr wakes up to his communicator going off, imagining that this is some important message.
And then he gets this. And he sits there for a moment in confusion. Why...
Well. It sounds like Rincewind doesn't know who he's talking to. And who is Baelish to ruin this immediately? Rincewind's fault for drunk texting him! ]
I mean, it could have been worse. You could have been chased out by a gun. What happened after? After the dog, that is.
Then the Luggage caught up with me and nearly ate someones family pet. then I let myself in your old office bwcause I forgot about your new one and im there now
[it's cozy and it makes him feel safe. Probably it would not make the psychiatrist who actually works here now feel safe, however.]
What would you do with her information and how would it help you to do the task I had asked of you? It's one thing to wish to fact check, but it's another to wish to expose a valuable source of mine. She put her career at risk to tell me that much which was far more than most of the officials had given me to that point. And I intend to protect her in return. If you were to dig into any of the government files, you probably would not find any more in hers than you would in the others. So what angle are you after here? And how will it aid you in your research into the imProcreat organization?
[ Of course. Of course it's Chilton he's being mistaken for. ]
So long as you let yourself back out as harmlessly as you let yourself in, I don't think it will be too much of a problem.
[ Chilton must know what Rincewind is talking about, so Baelish can't exactly sit there questioning the hows and whats. He can only say things back and hope that Rincewind will elaborate on his own. ]
you're sure? I meAn I just know security gets testy evenwhen breaking in doesn't mean breaking things. Hard to explain magic lockpicking fingers you know that
[since he still believes he's texting Dr. Sedative Hands himself.]
have you moved yet or are you still Heropa? I could come over
[less likely to get arrested sleeping in Chilton's guest bed, he reasons.]
probs it's your default bc u have the CREEPER OS installed you def want to update
n e ways i am not looking to ruin your contact's life ok chill pls all i want is a place to start
but if your sphincter tightens at this TINY possible threat to your presh contact i will settle for what friggin department at the gov she is with can you unclench enough for that one at least
You must forgive my wariness considering the fact that there are people in your line of work on the network who are intent to expose a great deal about the government. It's only a matter of being extra cautious. Something you know well, given your means of contacting me.
[ A burner with no real way of knowing who he's speaking to? Yeah, Baelish definitely wouldn't entrust a name to someone who employs that much caution to protect their identity. ]
But yes, I can give you the department. Health and Human Services. But if you want a place to begin, I do recommend looking into the imProcreat organization themselves. They are the center of this all.
[probably she needs a lot of beauty rest. And considering how miffed she seemed with Rincewind when they last spoke, he certainly doesn't want to be the one to spoil it.]
no no it's just all the dogs you know I don't want to wake everyone. But it's fine maybe I'll go to a diner.
[he could order a giant plate of fried potatoes from some 24-hour hole-in-the-wall and sleep in a booth until sunrise. Always one step from being a hobo, that's Rincewind.]
[ On December 16th, on the dot, Baelish gets a present wrapped in silver wrapping paper - a framed print of the four seasons by Alphonse Mucha, for the man from the world that has such odd seasons. A short explanation that it's the personification of the seasons is included in the card Julian hand-wrote.
