Are you confessing to voting for the losing side?

I appreciate your offer, and I am certain there will come a time when I will come to you for advice or simply with questions about your experience. Right now, I am in the process of compiling requests to bring to government officials from imPorts who have approached me. Did you find once you became ambassador suddenly everyone wanted something from you? I wonder if they would dare approach Queen Lucy in such a manner.

It may be. And I imagine this to be your petition for RISE to have control of it. As you must be aware, there is a great deal of criticism aimed toward RISE from the imPort population. Some approve of what you have accomplished, and many others did not. I was surprised by the sheer volume of questions regarding your organization at the debates. But I am interested in what you have to say in response to the criticism, Lady Sabriel? As an ambassador, it would not do to put such an armed fortress in the direct control of a potentially corrupt organization.

Well, I appreciate that vote of confidence. And now that I find myself in such a position, I believe it would be the opportune time to obtain a lawyer I can trust.

RISE is not corrupt- I think part of the concern is that we tend to work closely with the government, which many imPorts wish to stay as far away from. And some imPorts of a less military inclination find our commander off putting. She's competent, but more used to dealing with soldiers than civilians.

However, if RISE didn't exist, that doesn't mean that imPorts would be free of government attempts to police them- perhaps we would be for a time, but the next time an imPort endangered native lives on a large scale, the government would create an organization of their own- one that took its orders directly from the government, without RISE's independence, one staffed entirely by natives using power nullifiers.

I suspect they would probably be harsher than RISE.

I thought you might say that. And look at that, you've already got the support of a Maurtia Falls lawyer texting you right now.

I shall pencil it into my calendar. It may be a good idea to put Bela Talbot into contact with them as well. She runs an antiques store, and I have reason to believe she does not acquire all of her wares in the legal means. I did promise her a more lucrative future within Maurtia Falls.

I do agree that it is better to have a force within the imPort population to deal with threats at large. We are likely the only ones capable of fighting our numbers, truth be told. I have met Olivier Armstrong. She does not have the same sort of...diplomatic air that you possess.

I have no doubt you and Major General Armstrong have the best of intentions at heart. But there is the recent incident with Yuri Petrov to consider. Knowing his past, he was still allowed to work within RISE -- what brought about that decision?

[ His tone of voice isn't critical, but more curious. Petyr Baelish wasn't about to be one to condemn working with known murderers, but there has to be logic behind it. ]

Yes, and you'll figure out, half of them want something that you can't provide -- but they're too stupid to go to the right source, and instead go right for you.

A meet would be better. Get a few things ironed out and a signature on paper, plus there'll be booze and my company.

I'm not entirely sure- to be honest, hiring him is not something I would have chosen. I believe the Major General hoped to keep him on a leash, and direct his drives towards more... legitimate ends.

Obviously in hindsight, this turned out to be misguided.

She is a very lovely woman. Then again, most of the women here are very lovely women. Physically, at least.

There's an imPort here, Kitty Jones. Personally, I loathe her, but she did make an interesting point one time: as a populace, we're all bizarrely attractive. I'd extend the hypothesis to bizarrely young as well. If the Porter were truly random, there would be more children and elderly than there are here.

Why should I think it would be any different? And I imagine you also took blame for things that were outside of your control.

You do make a compelling argument. Shall I come to you or you come to me?

Under the right circumstances, even dangerous people can be utilized. From what I know of the man, he is very justice oriented. A trait that would do well within RISE. But he also quite clearly will take that justice a bit too far. And it is unfortunate that he did and such a thing wound up reflecting negatively upon you.

I, personally, do not hold your organization accountable for this. In my opinion, it's extremely difficult to tell what a person is truly like when the porter can bring in some of the greatest liars and criminals right alongside the good and just. But I worry about the public opinion from the perspective of the imPorts. So perhaps to put their minds at ease, would you be willing to submit to an investigation? This would be headed by Count Dooku, and it will serve the function of proving once and for all that RISE is not corrupt with its power.

And in exchange, provided everything goes well, I will petition to the government to put the Helix Station in RISE's hands.

Yes, but given his prior actions within this world, I think a bit more caution might have been wise.

That would be the Major General's choice- and while I think it's a good idea, she generally doesn't have much patience for politics. But the prospect of Helix Station might be enough of an incentive.

The life of a politician, huh? Don't worry, I'm sure you'll come up with better ways to waylay that than I did.

But is that not the American way? You were merely fitting in.

One might wonder, given your diplomacy and willingness to compromise, why you are not leading RISE, Lady Sabriel.

I'm flattered, Lord Baelish, but there are several reasons. First is that the Major General formed RISE- and was able to do so, in no small part, thanks to her military experience and service with this government- she has their trust, and that is an advantage not only to her, but our entire community.

Second is the matter of my age- nineteen year olds are seldom given command of organizations in this world, whatever titles they hold in their own worlds.

Finally, the Major General has more experience than I with military command and running an organizatio- experience I am eager to learn from.
