I do agree that having Sam there may wind up looking unfavorable, but Jon Snow also has no place there either. And having him speak may come across as an unintentional endorsement as well as condoning his unjustified behavior. He fucked the ambassador. That does not make him one.

I have to wonder if there might be a more subtle way to do it -- some issue that ties the three of us together that could be utilized to show Sam's competence and put the idea into the minds of those who attend that he might be a good pick? Perhaps something related to imPort business since you and I championed for tax cuts on imPort businesses, and he is an owner of one of those businesses.
